An interpretation of childhood trapped in an artist’s wooden frame represents all that constitutes a picture of life that is created by the mere fact that you are a parent. “Philippe Ariès, a French historian, half a century ago claimed that “in medieval society the idea of childhood did not exist”, which he confirmed with examples from the fine arts of that period. What do we get then by overlapping these two constructs through an artistic project? The work of Marko Crnobrnja gives us the opportunity to reconsider and actively reshape our assumptions on which, without our previous awareness of it, our childhood experiences and images of childhood in culture and the media rested by using sculptural objects without redundant theorizing.
