Vladimir Velickovic – Drawings

The Thalberg Gallery is proud to present the exhibition Vladimir Velickovic – Drawings, from November 2nd 2018 to January 14th 2019.
Born 1935 in Belgrade, Velickovic has become the most prominent artist from Serbia for Post-War Art.

Vladimir Velickovic was born on 11 August 1935 in Belgrade, where he exhibited his works for the first time in 1951. In the same city he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in 1960 and received his first offer for a solo exhibition of his work at the Museum of Modern Art.
He was awarded at the Biennale de Paris in 1965, the city he moved to the following year, where he now lives and works. Velickovic showed his first solo exhibition in Paris in 1967 at the Dragon Gallery.
Appointed professor at the École Nationale Supérieure des beaux-arts (National Academy of Fine Arts) in Paris in 1983, he taught there for 18 years. In 2009 he created the “Fonds Vladimir Velickovic pour le dessin”, which rewards young Serbian artists. He is a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts; Member of the Académie des beaux-arts, Institut de France, member of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts; Commander of the Order of Arts and Literature and Knight of the Legion of Honor.
